The Reader Problems Book Tag

So I read this tag at Becky’s Book Blog, and I liked it so much, I decided to give it a try. It was initially started by About to Read on YouTube. I’ve linked both the accounts so you can check them out!

You have 20,000 books in your TBR, how in the world do you decide what to read next?

I end up reading one of the new books and then keep it aside. Unless it has a series then I finish it. I also keep re-reading my favourites and my TBR pile just keeps increasing and increasing.

You’re halfway through a book and you are just not loving it. Do you put it down or are you committed?

I’ll try to keep the book aside for a while and read it after some time. If that doesn’t work then I just let it be. I do feel bad about it but I’ve learnt not to go through with things that I don’t enjoy including books.

The end of the year is coming and you’re behind on your reading challenge, do you try to catch up? and if so, how?

Yes! I will try my level best to finish my reading challenge. I’ll either change the book count that I had initially planned or bring it to a number that I could finish in the remaining amount of time. If not, I’ll re-read some books that I know I will finish pretty quickly. Or then I’ll pick up books that are significantly lesser in pages and quickly read them.

The covers of a series you love do not match, how do you cope?

I can’t cope. I get irritated. It spoils my mood and it takes me a long time to read it. Luckily for me, till now all the series I’ve read have had matching covers so it’s going good so far. *fingers crossed*

Everyone and their mother love a book that you do not. Who do you bond with over your shared feelings?

My partner usually listens to me rant about everything related to books. I’ve got some family members who love reading as much as I do and we end up talking about the books we liked, didn’t like, what we should read and what we shouldn’t.

You’re reading a book in public and you’re about to start crying. How do you deal?

I would start crying. I’ve done that and I usually carry tissues with me too. If I know my destination is close, I’ll hold on to my crying and cry in peace once I’ve reached a private space. But if I know, there’s no chance for a private space, I cry. I’ve received a few odd looks too and some understood the reason for crying.

The sequel to a book you loved just came out but you’ve forgotten a lot of what happens. Are you going to reread it?

If I have the time to re-read it, I would definitely. Most of the times, I end up reading a quick summary online or if someone I know has read that book, I’ll just ask them what happened in the previous one.

You do not want anyone to borrow your books, how do you politely say no when someone asks?

It depends on the person who asked to borrow my book. If I know that person is just as careful with books as I am then I will let them borrow my books. Otherwise, I just tell them that I want to read it or it’s with someone else. Works every time.

You have picked up and put down 5 books in the last month. How do you get over this reading slump?

I just went through it a few weeks back and the advice I received was to re-read some old favourite ones. I have since then started reading the Harry Potter series. I’ve also downloaded the pdfs for the Inheritance Cycle. It’s been a while since I read those and I’m excited to read Eragon’s story.

There are so many books coming out that you are dying to read, how many do you end up buying?

I don’t always buy the book. Unless it’s a book I need to have on my bookshelf. I’ve been a kindle reader since the past 3-4 years and I usually download the books. There are also a few websites I use to read arc books in exchange for reviews such as Netgalley, Booksirens, and Reedsy.

After you purchase all of these books that you’re dying to read how long do they sit on your shelves before you get to them?

A long while. Haha. I’ve had a few books on my physical shelf and virtual shelf for about 4-5 years. I still haven’t managed to get to them. I want to read them, but sometimes I’m just not in the mood or I’m interested in a different book. Hopefully, one day I will finish them all!

If you guys do give this tag a try, let me know so I can read your answers.

All the love R
