It’s been a while since I’ve read a romance story. When I came across Billionaire Boss, Undercover Affair, I was hooked. It has the perfect kind of unfiltered passion; raw emotion and a devious plot that make you want to read the book in one sitting.
Which I did, read it in one sitting.
The story starts with Susan Johansen repeatedly refusing her Boss’s secret assignment to break up his daughter Alicia’s engagement. But why? It’s because Alicia is planning to marry Charles’s arch-enemy in his business, the young, enigmatic, supposedly chauvinistic man Miles Middleton.
Susan’s boss, Charles wants anything and anyone to break up this engagement and he doesn’t trust anyone but Susan to the job. He dangles the post of Vice President, which has been Susan’s dream job, right in her face to do his bidding. But that’s not all, Susan being the ambitious young woman, for those few moments, let’s goes of her ethics and integrity and agrees to the plan.
Throughout the book, we keep seeing that even though Susan has agreed to the plan she keeps feeling guilty once she realizes that Miles Middleton is not what the Tabloids say he is. The guilt eats her so much that she gives up position in Miles’s company, the position that Charles is offering her and everything related to the agreement. It also shows the honesty always triumphs over lies. Finally, when Susan decided to confess, a 360 degrees turn later we see that Miles has planned events behind Susan’s back. This proves to be a perfect ending to this love story.
Not just those, but the numerous steamy glimpses and seduction techniques, that the author gives us are a perfect addition and the right amount of sexy that this story deserves. What I like even better is that we get to an ambitious, career-oriented female protagonist paired with an equally strong emotional male character. Susan and Miles, break the stereotypes that surround the business environment and showcase a very effective relationship sans the devious plots.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this roller coaster of a book and would recommend for those who would like to read a quick steamy, romantic, comedic at certain times and emotionally endearing story of Susan Johansen and Miles Middleton.
I have received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
